The 2011 legislative session begins this February. During this legislative session, under the sponsorship of Senator Sheila Leslie, the Nevada Nurses Association will be introducing the APN national certification initiative. This initiative seeks to ensure the highest quality of care for Nevadans provided by APNs by validating their knowledge and expertise through national certification in their specialty area.
Additionally, we continue to move forward with activities supporting our APN autonomous practice initiative which will remove the mandate for a collaborative written agreement between an APN and a physician. We believe this creates unnecessary barriers to APN practice as well as presents issues for access to health care for Nevadans.
